About the event
Habesha Festival is a youth-led community initiative created to bring Edmonton’s Ethiopian and Eritrean communities together while creating a welcoming space for everyone to connect, learn, and experience our cultures.
The festival brings culture and community together through traditional and contemporary music, live performances, food, art, local businesses, creatives, and activities for all ages. Beyond celebration, we want the festival to be a space where people can build meaningful connections, discover local businesses and talent, and learn about organizations and resources available within the wider Edmonton community.
At the heart of Habesha Festival is a belief in what can happen when young people take initiative and communities come together to support one another. We want to create opportunities for youth to lead, for entrepreneurs and creatives to be seen, and for Ethiopian and Eritrean culture to be shared and celebrated across generations.
